IPL 2012: A thrilling victory of Kings XI Punjab over Deccan Chargers

Deccan Chargers luck is not on their side this year, even when they made massive 190 on the loss of just 4 wickets they went on to loss the match. In the 61st match of IPL played in the home turf of Kings XI Punjab, they marked a thrilling 4-wicket win over Deccan Chargers and kept their hope alive for last four spots.

Deccan won the toss and decided to bat first and their batsmen proved this decision right. Dhawan continued his superb form and made 71 runs in 58 balls. Cameron White too completed his half-century, he made 67 in 41 balls and some firework were provided by Christian who made 24 in just 10 balls. Deccan put a score of 190 on the board and it was looking difficult for Punjab to make it.

While Deccan batsmen were superb with batting, their bowling suffered. Steyn and Christian tried hard as they were the only economical bowlers. Rest of the bowlers were hammered all around the ground.

David Hussey made an unbeaten 65 in 35 balls hitting 5 sixes and 4 fours. And Gurkeerat Singh entertained home crowd with bat as he played a small cameo at the end making 29 in 12 balls. 16 runs were needed in last over and he hit 1 six and couple of fours to make it past 190. Dale Steyn and Christian took 2 wickets each.

David Hussey was awarded man of the match.

With this win Kings XI Punjab are very much in the game for last four spots and at present are at 7th position with 14 points.
