The Supreme Court of India on Friday ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe against former Chief Minister of Karnataka B S Yeddyurappa for his alleged role in illegal allotment of coal mines on leases in the state.
This order of Supreme Court has created a big question mark on the fate of Yeddyurappa's political carrier who was willing to reinstate himself on the CM post.
SC has also asked the CBI to place its report before it by August 3. The court said all other proceedings in any other court would remain stayed.
The Central Empowered Committee (CEC) had recommended a probe into various matters related to illegal mining in the Karnataka by an independent agency in its report.
Acting on CEC recommendation, the apex court has ordered to CBI to conduct investigations against Yeddyurappa's and three other former Chief Ministers of state since 2003.
