Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is schedule to inaugurate the 'India Water Week' set to begins from April 10, 2012, Indian Water Resource Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal informed to media on Monday.
The week-long 'India Water Week' would be inaugrated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, said Bansal.
On the very first day, several topics such as water, energy and food security for all would be focused, he added.
An exhibition is also planned during the week to meet future challenges related to water.
Bansal also informed that government would finalize India's 'National Water Policy' by end of the this month as its draft policy has been prepared and government were holding consultations with various stakeholders.
"We have prepared a draft policy. We are holding consultations with various stakeholders. The national water policy will be finalised by April end," Bansal told reporters.
In India Water Week, a fully web-based information system 'WARIS' - Water Resources Information System - would also be showcased.
Around 1000 participants from India and around 43 from abroad are expected during the water week, said officials.
