A woman wardrobe tells more about her personality than she intends

New Delhi, Mon, 26 Mar 2012 NI Wire

A new study has said that a woman's wear can tell about personality of the women and can drop hints to know the person they are.

Jennifer Baumgartner, a clinical psychologist has said that one's wardrobe decisions allow others to know the secret desires they are trying to hide.

Here Jennifer Baumgartner has said too much cleavage indicate a women is power hungry and keen for control while over-the-top jewellery says that an individual is insecure and may be financial hardships.

"Your clothes reveal what is really going on internally. Your thoughts and feelings are laid bare in the closet - you just have to look for them," Baumgartner has been quoted saying in Daily Mail

In his new book, the 34-year-old Clinical psychologist, who is also a wardrobe consultant, speaks volumes about the mistakes women typically make while buying clothes.

Majority of women crave to only buying designer labels, wearing office clothes all the time or simply buying far more than required.

In addition, she also found that women get stuck to a particular style rut, and did not change their look for the past five years.

As per the Clinical psychologist and author Cleavage-exposing clothes, such as those loved by actress Christina Hendricks, are about feeling powerful and in control and - perhaps unsurprisingly - "knowing people will be looking at you".

He also told about the women who button up their clothes saying that they want to convey their boss that "femininity means weakness, not power", while high heels can make women appear less intelligent but also instill confidence by making the wearer as tall as their male colleagues.

In addition to that women who often wear jeans and trainers with unkempt hair may be "overly identifying with motherhood and suppressing other parts of yourself, possibly out of guilt or exhaustion".

The author also said that young girl wearing a short skirt could be looking for attention, while an older woman donning the same is denying that she is a grown-up.

"All of our behaviors, from the food we eat to the men we date, are motivated by internal factors. Why is it any different with the clothes we buy and the way we buy them? All you need to do is track your shopping habits, or note the styles in your wardrobe to identify the patterns.

"It is then that you can make real change, and find a wardrobe to match the new and improved you," Baumgartner has been quoted as saying.
