A group of former NASA executives are to launch a private service that will allow people to visit moon paying a whooping price of 1.5 billion dollars. Moon, priced at whopping 1.5 billion dollars.
The new venture will allow two people in one trip to the moon to all countries travelling either for research purpose, personal interest or for national pride.
The last trip of NASA to moon was 40 years back when the only country to land people on moon was United States beating the Soviet Union in a space race to the moon making a revolution in this field. Earlier, President Barack Obama also cancelled NASA's planned return to the moon, saying America had already been there, Fox News reports.
According to the reports, the firm had already a talk with countries like South Africa, South Korea, and Japan regarding the moon trip, said former NASA associate administrator Alan Stern, who is now president of the newly formed Golden Spike Company.
"It's not about being first. It's about joining the club. We're kind of cleaning up what NASA did in the 1960s. We're going to make a commodity of it in the 2020s," Stern said.
Stern also added that he is aiming for a first launch in this decade only and then up 15 or 20 launches total, the report said.
Dozens of private space companies have started up recently, but few if any will make it-just like in other fields, said Harvard astronomer Jonathan McDowell, who tracks launches worldwide.
