South Africa eyeing 'global domination' for next five years

Wellington , Mon, 31 Dec 2012 ANI

Wellington, Dec 31(ANI): South Africa batsman AB de Villiers has claimed the team wants to dominate world cricket for next four to five year, ahead of what should be a comparatively straight forward assignment against New Zealand in the upcoming series.

The first Test between Proteas and the Kiwis starts at Newlands in Cape Town on Wednesday, Stuff.co.nz reports.

De Villiers insists there's no complacency in the Proteas ranks ahead of this two-test series with a weakened Black Caps outfit.

Following overseas series wins in England and Australia, De Villiers said there was a steely determination to protect their No 1 test ranking and he believed that could extend for a number of years if they planned carefully and played accordingly.

De Villiers said the last time Proteas had No 1 we rather threw it away as if it didn't really matter to us, but there's a real sense of care in the team and spirit in this side.

The Proteas Twenty20 captain said he is looking forward to next year and believes if they can come through the next (year) well they have a really good chance of dominating for four or five years around the world. (ANI)
