Hyderabad, Dec, 29 (ANI): Downed shutters and lack of public transport threw daily life out of gear in Hyderabad and nearby areas, as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) called for a shutdown after inconclusive discussions in the all-party meeting held on Friday in New Delhi over a demand of separate state of Telangana.
After the all-party meeting, which was called to find a solution to the long pending demand for Telangana, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, promised to a take decision within a month. But the TRS didn't buy Shinde's statement and subsequently called for a shutdown.
Markets wore a deserted look, as no shops were open. Commuters were also made to suffer, as auto-rickshaws did not ply on roads. Schools and colleges remained closed in the city and examinations scheduled for the day were postponed.
The common people's resentment over the logjam was evident, as they accused politicians of serving their own ends where the issue was concerned.
"Telangana is a political issue which is creating problems for the public. Whatever the politicians are doing is in their own self-interest. One way or the other, they must make a decision, instead of dilly-dallying and making people suffer due to such shutdowns, which disrupt their daily routine," said Gyaneshwar Rao, a local.
While citizens voiced opinions both in support of Telangana's creation and against it, they were united in their call for a quick decision. (ANI)
