Wellington, Dec 28(ANI): South Africa batsman Faf du Plessis believes it would take some special efforts from New Zealand to beat them in their upcoming Test series, adding that the Proteas are carrying momentum with them after their comfortable 2-1 win in the Twenty20 series.
The Black Caps begin a three-day warm-up match against a South African XI in Paarl today before the opening test starts in Cape Town on January 2, Stuff.co.nz reports.
Du Plessis played the last two tests in Australia, scoring a defiant century on debut to deny the home side in Adelaide and then getting among the runs again in Perth as the Proteas won to claim the series and cement their world No 1 test ranking.
Du Plessis claimed the whole team was looking forward to the Test series against the touring Kiwis team, and added that they don't want their standards to be dropped.
The middle-order batsman also added that he can't wait to play in his first Test series at home, and believes it would be a special feeling for him to play in Cape Town. (ANI)
