It was the year 1988, a lean actor made a Bollywood debut with the film Biwi Ho to Aisi, which starred Farooq Shaikh and Rekha in the lead role. He played the role of a spoiled brat brother-in-law of Rekha who ultimately turns good. This lean actor was Salman Khan.
Though Salman had a very famous father in Salim Khan, he made his own name and place in Bollywood in the next 20 years that will now be remembered forever.
Salman became star and talk of the town from his very next film "Maine Pyar Kiya", which was a dream debut for Bhagyashree. Salman played the role of charming lover boy.
Following years he gave few hits like Baaghi, Sanam Bewafa, Love and few flops like Kurban and Suryavanshi.
In 1991, with Saajan he raised to Stardom, female fans went crazy for a boy who left Madhuri for his best-friend Sanjay Dutt.
He paired with another star Aamir Khan in Andaz Apna Apna, which has now become a cult film.
Then came Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, a dream pair of Salman and Madhuri was seen in the film. Songs, story, dialogues and acting everything was perfect and the film went on to broke every box-office records there were.
He paired with Sharukh Khan in Karan Arjun and film was superhit. Jeet, Judwa, Auzaar, Pyar Kiya to Darna Kya, Khamoshi and Biwi No.1 were the hit films to follow.
In 1999, Salman paired with Aishwarya Rai and Ajay Devgan in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Film was a hit. Hello Brother, Hum Sath Sath Hain, Har Dil Jo pyar Karega and in 2003, Tere Naam were few other hits of Salman Bhai.
2009 was the year that changed everything for Salman and made him from just an actor to a STAR. Wanted was released portraying him in the action avatar. It was a remake of a south film, firs to the few he will be making in coming years. It was a massive hit. People loved his new Avatar. From that film Salman’s fever or Salmania followed.
Salman as Chulbul Pandey in film Dabangg in the year 2010 made people crazy. His dancing style and action sequences made public crazy. Film entered the 100 crore club. Ready and Bodyguard were next, both making to 100 crore clubs.
2012 is the year of Salman Khan. His Ek Tha Tiger is the biggest hit if the year. It has collected Rs 190 crores. Then Dabangg 2 has also been declared a hit. Film has collected around 90 crores in just 6 days.
On 27 January 2012, Salman Khan has turned 47-year-old. He has given back-to-back hits and has become the most bankable actor of his time.
Salman had his rough patch in his 23 years of Bollywood life. He had been named in various cases. He might be going to court on his birthday this year. But still he left everything behind.
Salman is considered as the most charitable person in Bollywood. His own Being Human charity works for the betterment of people in need.
Salman Khan today is being loved by every person and even his co-stars and workers love him a lot.
