New Delhi, Dec 25 (ANI): With Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit writing to Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on reported interference in the gang-rape victim's statement, Minister of State for Home R.P.N Singh on Tuesday said that the Centre would act in a legal way into the matter.

"The government will act in a legal way on the letter written to Shinde Sahab," he said.

In her letter written to the Home Minister, Dikshit has demanded that a high-level inquiry should be ordered into reports that top policemen interfered in the recording of the 23-year-old gang-rape survivor's statement.

The Sub Divisional Magistrate trying to record the statement of the survivor said the police officials' briefing did not match the survivor's statement, citing pressure from the police. The modalities of the complaint are yet to be worked out.

The health condition of the rape survivor, who gave her statement to the SDM on Saturday, remains a big concern.

She remains in a critical condition at the Safdarjung Hospital here where she is being treated. (ANI)
