Sharp dip in temperature, fog envelopes Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 25 (IANS) Delhi shivered Tuesday with the maximum temperature dipping five notches below average at 16.2 degree Celsius. The same temperature is expected Wednesday.

Dense fog, meanwhile, enveloped the national capital early Tuesday, affecting flights at the Delhi airport.

Visibility dropped below 50 meters around Monday midnight, and remained so till 8 a.m. Tuesday. At 8.30 a.m., the visibility was only 100 metres at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Fog was cleared by 10 a.m. and the day remained clear.

Foggy conditions will be similar Tuesday night, with IMD forecasting visibility likely to drop to 200 meters by 11.30 p.m.

The minimum temperature early Tuesday morning was a notch below average at 7 degree Celsius.

The maximum and minimum temperatures Wednesday will be around 18 and 7 degree Celsius.
