Delhi Police assures aid to constable's family

New Delhi, Dec 25 (IANS) The Delhi Police will provide all aid to the family of constable Subhash Chand Tomar who died after being badly beaten up during protests against the gang-rape of a 23-year-old physiotherapist, Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar said Tuesday.

"We are with the family of the constable and will provide then all kind of aid," he said at a press conference here.

Tomar, who had received severe injuries in the rioting Sunday, died in a hospital Tuesday morning. He is survived by wife Amresh Devi, 40, two sons - Sonu, 18 and Deepak, 22 - and a daughter Jyoti, 24.

"We have decided to provide all kinds of help to his family on compassionate grounds," said Neeraj Kumar.

Tomar was cremated with full state honours Tuesday noon.
