Oz chief selector Inverarity says Clarke has 50-50 chances of playing Boxing Day Test

Sydney , Mon, 24 Dec 2012 ANI

Sydney, Dec 24(ANI): Australia chairman of selectors, John Inverarity has said there is only fifty percent chances of captain Michael Clarke playing in the Boxing Day Test against Sri Lanka in Melbourne.

Clarke, who strained his right hamstring in Hobart last week, did not attempt to bat at the team's first training session at the MCG on Sunday, News.com.au reports.

Clarke slowly jogged about 100m several times under the guidance of physiotherapist Alex Kountouris and then walked a lap with Inverarity, talking about team selection in general, it added.

Later, while chatting to Inverarity and coach Mickey Arthur while the rest of the squad batted and bowled, Clarke clutched the leg several times before Arthur put a hand on his shoulder and then walked away to speak to vice-captain Shane Watson, the paper said.

Inverarity said Clarke's recovery was on the right track, and also added that since he is a precious asset for Australia they would follow a low-risk approach.

Inverarity said Clarke wants to play desperately but they would not take any risk with him. (ANI)
