New Delhi, Dec. 22 (ANI): Doctors attending to the Delhi gang rape victim at the Safdarjung Hospital said on Saturday that the 23-year-old paramedical student's health is improving gradually as she is alert, calm and communicating in a much better way than yesterday.

Giving her health update, the doctors said she is "psychologically totally balanced", but the danger of infection spreading in her body continues.

"Her WBC (white blood cell) count has improved to 2600, but platelet count is lower than yesterday at 20000, and platelet rich plasma was administered today. And infection chances continue to exist," said Dr. B D Athani, the Medical Superintendent of Safdarjung Hospital.

"We have done today initial psychological investigation. She is responding well to the normal routine questions. She is very positive and looking totally balanced. She is very much optimistic for her future also," said Dr. Abhliasha, panel member from psychiatry department.

Earlier in the day, police fired tear gas shells and baton charged to disperse thousands of people who had gathered at Rashtrapati Bhawan to protest against the incident in which the girl was gang raped and tortured on a moving bus and later thrown out on Sunday night this week.

Delhi Police have arrested all six accused in the case. (ANI)
