Ahmedabad, Dec.21 (ANI): Former Gujarat Congress chief Arjun Modhwadia said the party's debacle in the recent assembly polls is a loss for the party.
He said the members would formulate a strategy to overcome the limitations.
Modhwadia said: "This is party's loss. We will make an analysis and find out whom to blame for it. We will also find out where did we fail while communicating to the public and what were the hurdles in between. We also find out ways by which we can overcome the limitations and we will formulate a strategy."
Modhwadia, who was defeated by his BJP rival Babu Bokhiria in Porbandar constituency, sent his resignation on Thursday to Congress Party leader Sonia Gandhi.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 115 seats, while the Congress won over 60 seats.
Meanwhile in Shimla, senior Congress leader and former union minister Virbhadra Singh said it is for the high command to decide who will be the chief minister.
Singh, 78-year-old, who had to resign from the cabinet over allegations of corruption, was appointed the Congress Party's chief in the state just days before the polling.
Echoing similar views, another Congress leader Vidya Stokes said: "We have already said we depend only on the high command. Whatever their decision is we will accept it. That's what he (Virbhadra Singh) said, that's what I am saying."
The Congress won 36 seats in the 68 member assembly and returned to power after five years.
The BJP won 41 seats in the last assembly polls. The Congress bagged 23 seats and the BSP got one seat. (ANI)
