London, Dec 19(ANI): England has rested Jonathan Trott and James Anderson from the one-day international series against India as part of their rotation policy with Chris Woakes, of Warwickshire, and Somerset's Jos Buttler replacing them in the squad.
Batsman Joe Root, who made 73 in his first Test innings in Nagpur last week, has been added to England's squad for this week's two Twenty20 matches, the Telegraph reports.
Root, more known for his prowess in the longer form of the game, helps to pad out a threadbare squad, which will be captained by Eoin Morgan in the absence of the injured Stuart Broad for this week's two T20 games.
The decision to rest in particular Anderson, who was only due to play in the first two of five one-day internationals scheduled for next month, was perhaps no great surprise given his heavy workload in sapping conditions in the Test series.
Buttler, who is already in England's Twenty20 squad, has played one ODI whereas Woakes, who has made six one-day appearances for England, will cut short a stint in New Zealand where he is Wellington's overseas player. (ANI)
