Amritsar Dec 15 (ANI): Taking serious note of the increasing crime case against women, Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice Altamas Kabir has said that the people have to change their mindset to decrease the crime against women in the country.

CJI Kabir, who inaugurated the Legal Aid Clinic at the Khalsa College here, said that the crime against women is taking place quite frequently.

Admitting the fact that the crime against women has increased in the country, Justice Kabir said that remedies are there but at the same time the criminal cases have to be proved in the court of law so that it where possibly lacuna occurs and for that thorough investigation has be done by the police.

He said that it was always necessary for the police to thoroughly investigate the crime against women.

It is pertinent to mention that in Punjab in recent days a police official who was trying save the honour of his daughter was shot dead by goons.

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who was also accompanying the CJI at the function, opined that there should be more stringent laws.

Justice Kabir laid the foundation stone of the new building of recently established Khalsa College of Law (KCL) . He would later address a seminar organized by Legal Services Authority at College's Sunder Singh Majithia hall attended by judges, senior advocates and law officers.By Ravinder Singh Robin(ANI)
