New Delhi, Dec 13 (ANI): A group of 127 IPS probationers of 64 RR (2011 batch), including 18 female probationers, called on President Pranab Mukherjee today at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Addressing the probationers, Mukherjee said that his vision of the police of future India is not merely that of a regulatory body enforcing laws, but of a pro-active service provider, a partner in growth, development and peace.
He further said that this would require a change of role of the police from a reactive to a proactive agency, which in partnership with society creates a peaceful and secure atmosphere conducive to the enjoyment of the fruits of growth and prosperity.
Mukherjee said that he understands that their academy has already adopted the motto of "Sensitized police for Empowered Society".
"To achieve this goal, they have the rather difficult task of enlisting the cooperation and assistance of the people in the voluntary observance of the law to earn the respect of the public," he added.
Indian Police Service Officers of 64 Regular Batch has completed 46 weeks of training at National Police Academy, Hyderabad on November 2, 2012 and has thereafter undergone two weeks of study-cum-cultural tour and two weeks of CRPF and Army attachments.
They are presently undergoing familiarization attachments with various Central Police Organizations and Central Armed Forces at New Delhi. (ANI)
