Starc admits need to find right balance between aggressiveness and containment

Sydney , Wed, 12 Dec 2012 ANI

Sydney, Dec 12 (ANI): Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc has admitted the need to find out the right balance between aggressiveness and containment as he looks to forge his Test career.

Starc returned to the Australian fold for the third Test against South Africa in Perth, taking 2-55 and 6-154 in the second innings.

However, the young fast bowler leaked 5.3 runs an over in taking his six wickets as the No.1 team in the world went on the attack.

While happy with how he and the rest of the bowling group bounced back after being taken apart by Graeme Smith and Hashim Amla in the last session on day two, Starc acknowledged it was a fine line between bowling full throttle and knowing when to dry up and end.

"We spoke about day two after what happened. They came out quite aggressively and had every right to with that lead on the board," News.com.au quoted Starc, as saying.

"We didn't have that containment there that day and we spoke about that, it was more sticking to plans. For some of us, its finding that balance between being aggressive and containing runs and not going for sixes (runs an over) in a Test match," he added. (ANI)
