Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences is hosting "Delhi Smiles" Dental Health Utsav ,2012 from 11th to 15th December 2012 with lots of gusto, gaiety, and color to create awareness among people regarding oral health.
The event was inaugurated by Health Minister of Delhi, Dr. Ashok Kumar Walia. The inauguration ceremony began with lightening of lamp. He appreciated the efforts being made by MAIDS in giving quality and affordable dental care to the citizens of Delhi.
Other dignitaries present at the function were P.K. Tripathi (Chief Secretary GNCT), Mr. S.C.L. Das (Secretary, Health and Family Welfare) and Dr. A.K.Agarwal, Dean, Maulana Azad Medical College. The Health Minister also launched Mobile Dental Scheme at this occasion. He felt that there is large gap between awareness and utilization and availability of dental services this has resulted in an increased burden of dental disease on the society.
The goal of the mobile dental clinics is to bridge this gap, motivate and render necessary services. A free Dental Check up was organized to spread awareness about oral health among people from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and as an incentive toothbrush and toothpaste were given to all. A Dental Health Exhibition was setup to educate general public about dental care and doctors demonstrated brushing techniques and other oral hygiene aids.
