London, December 8 (ANI): Dolly Parton, who has made no secret of her preternatural breast implants, numerous nips and tucks and her passion for mile-high blonde wigs, has left out the more intriguing dark secrets from her new memoir, her friends have revealed.
The multi-millionaire entertainer dances around the truth behind her unorthodox marriage to husband Carl Dean and her sadness at never having had children.
She glosses over her intimate relationship with lifelong girlfriend Judy Ogle, persistent gossip that she is gay and the liaisons she is rumoured to have enjoyed with some of Hollywood's biggest stars including Sylvester Stallone, Burt Reynolds and James Woods.
The 66-year-old songbird avoids discussing the crippling back pain caused by decades of hauling around her weighty breast implants, which threatens to end her performing career.
"While she definitely counts her blessings, I think she looks back at the heartaches as well as the great successes," the Daily Express quoted an insider as saying.
Parton's candour in her book does not extend to her 46-year marriage, neglecting to mention that she and Dean have separate homes and effectively live separate lives.
The cleverly worded statements in the book carefully avoid mentioning her practical estrangement from Dean, who used to run an asphalt-laying company.
Parton's legendary 40DD breast implants have undoubtedly played a role in her success but ironically threaten to end her performing career as chronic back pain has plagued her for years.
In 2008 she was even forced to cancel concert appearances because of the strain on her spine.
"Hey, you try wagging these puppies around a while and see if you don't have back problems," the singer says in her book.
She declines to address the agonising issue in her new book but a friend reveals "It has got worse as she gets older. Dolly fears every tour will be her last. "
Parton has also admitted to friends that even her support bra cuts into her shoulders, leaving her doubled up in pain.
"My boobs are killing me and I don't know if I can stand the pain any longer," she said.
"My boobs have been a trademark but I've paid one hell of a price," Parton said.
Parton admits that she will continue presenting an artificial face to her fans "because I need it... I am in showbusiness. I am not a natural beauty. I don't go to extremes with it, just try to keep things touched up."
Despite keeping her darkest secrets out of her memoir, Parton admits to a macabre wish - to share the moment of her death with her fans.
"I hope I drop dead right on stage one of these days doing exactly what I want to do," she says.
"I want people to simply walk around me and say, 'Oh, just look at her. She looks so happy'," she added. (ANI)
