Samsung Galaxy S3 has become the world's best-selling smartphone overtaking Apple iPhone 4S.
Galaxy S3 sold 18 million smartphones in third quarter while iPhone 4S sold 16.2 million over the same period.
Galaxy S3 shipment rose from second quarter (5.2 million) while iPhone 4S shipment fell from second quarter (19.4 million).
Samsung Galaxy S3 has accounted 11 percent of all smartphones shipped worldwide in the 3rd quarter.

Apple shipped 6 million iPhone 5 in third quarter and is expecting to overtake the Galaxy S3 in the 4th quarter.
Samsung Galaxy S3 was launched in May 2012. It has sold over 30 million handsets till date. Galaxy S2 took 14 months to sell as many.
