J and K Chief Minister stresses on the state's need for self-reliant industry

Jammu, Nov. 27 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday emphasized on the need for providing an impetus to the industry in the state in a bid to make the state self-sufficient.

Addressing a conference here, Abdullah said that it is important for the state to stand on its own feet and develop to overshadow of militancy and devastation attached with it.

"Please understand what you saw happening in Jammu and Kashmir was not like a Naxalite problem. It was not on account of poor governance; it wasn't on account on poverty, it wasn't on account on a lack of development. It was on account of the nefarious designs of our neighbour because they think it was their unfinished agenda of partition or the need to revenge the dismembering of their country in 1971-72," said Abdullah.

"And that is what puts us in a totally unique place. And that is why we are asking for the kind of benefits that we are asking for so that our industry can stand on its own feet," he said.

Meanwhile, he lauded the Medium and Small Enterprises sector (MSEs) and said that this sector strengthens the spirit of entrepreneurship and competitiveness.

"The Indian economy through its various avatars and its transitions has had the MSEs (Medium and Small Enterprises sector) to rely upon through good and bad this sector has continued to try and strengthen the spirit of entrepreneurship the spirit of competitive business practices," said Abdullah.

He added that the sector has converted adversity into opportunity for several small businessmen, giving them room to prosper. (ANI)
