Kejriwal to announce the name of his political party

New Delhi, Sat, 24 Nov 2012 NI Wire

India against corruption crusader, former team Anna member and social activist-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal is likely to announce the name of his party, which formal launching will be held on 26th November 2012.

His key ally and senior advocate Prashant Bhushan may announce the constitution of their political outfit today.

This will be the first meeting of its national council and the members are expected to ratify the name and elect a 30- member national executive. It will be the highest decision-making body for the party.

The party will be formally launched on Monday at Jantar Mantar.

Kejriwal and others plan to submit their paperwork, including a videotape of Saturday's meeting, 300 affidavits, and other formalities within the next week to the Election Commission for registration of the party's name.

However, it could take four-five months before the party is formally registered in their name and a symbol is allotted.

Earlier, Kejriwal had announced that he would give up the India Against Corruption (IAC) tag once the party was launched.

"Work on the party's constitution is complete, and it will be formally adopted on November 26. But we will announce and discuss this and other issues with our colleagues across the country on Saturday," Kejriwal said.
