Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh), Nov.23 (ANI): Acting on a tip off, police raided a foundry in the Kath area of Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad District that was engaged in the manufacture of illegal weapons and seized several arms and ammunition.
Three of the five persons involved have been taken into custody following the raid, said Superintendent of Police (SP) of Moradabad A K Singh.
"An unidentified person informed us about the illegal manufacturing of arms and ammunitions near the forest area. Acting on a tip off, our team raided the place and saw five persons making arms and ammunitions. The culprits tried to escape but somehow our team managed to nab three persons, whereas other two managed to escape from the site, we recovered some finished and unfinished weapons and necessary tools, which help in the manufacturing of those weapons and through this the police have bagged a biggest achievement," said Singh.
Police recovered finished and unfinished weapons along with necessary tools, helps in manufacturing the arms from the manufacturing unit.
Calling it as a successful achievement for the police department, Singh also added that investigation is underway to arrest the suspected persons involved in the manufacturing of the illicit arms.
"I have formed a team to arrest the other two absconding criminals and we hope that the police will be successful in nabbing them. During the interrogation, many details have come to light, we are trying to get to the root of the crime and whoever is suspected of having involvement in the case will face severe actions," said Singh.
