Bangalore, Nov 22 (IANS) Greece opened centres in eight cities across the country, including Bangalore, for receiving applications and delivering visas to mainly Indian citizens through VFS Global outsourcing technology services firm.
The seven other cities are: Chandigarh, Chennai, Jalandhar, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Puducherry.
"Applicants seeking Schengen visa for travelling to Greece can also avail the service offered at our centres across the eight cities and need not visit the Greek embassy in New Delhi," VFS chief operating officer for South Asia Murali Raghavan said in a statement here Thursday.
The embassy, however, will continue to assess and process all applications in New Delhi for granting Greek or Schengen visa.
The centres will have a dedicated website for easy access and information on visa types, applicable fee and application status and dedicated staff to handle queries, a call centre unit and e?mail support.
"Applicants can also avail a host of other value added services such as photo?booth, photocopying, online tracking of status, SMS alerts and door?step delivery of passports on a nominal service fee," Raghavan said.
