Amritsar, Nov 21 (IANS) The Border Security Force (BSF) Wednesday sounded a general alert along the 553?km international border between India and Pakistan after the hanging of Pakistani national and 26/11 Mumbai attack terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasab in Pune.
Security personnel manning the international border, which has an electrified barbed wire fence inside the Indian territory, have been put on alert as a precautionary measure, a senior BSF official said here.
The BSF personnel have been asked to be on alert in the Gurdaspur and Amritsar area of the border belt.
Kasab, the sole surviving gunman of the Mumbai terror attack of Nov 26, 2008, was hanged in a Pune jail at 7.30 a.m. Wednesday, after his mercy plea was rejected by President Pranab Mukherjee earlier this month.
Kasab was one of the 10 Pakistani terrorists who attacked Mumbai Nov 26, 2008, claiming 166 lives and leaving 300 people injured in a three?day carnage.
