Melbourne, Nov. 21 (ANI): A taxi driver from Singapore returned 865,000 dollars to a Thai couple who had left the money in his cab.
Sia Ka Tian, 70, was surprised to find the money in a black paper bag kept on the back seat after he dropped the couple off at a shopping centre.
"When I saw the money, I thought, trouble is here. I was sure there was at least 200,000 Singaporean dollars in the bag," the Herald Sun quoted him as telling the Straits Times.
But when Tian brought the money to transport company ComfortDelGro's lost-and-found office, his astonished colleagues counted 865,000 dollars, the paper reported.
"The money is unimportant to me. It doesn't belong to me, so how can I use it?" he said.
Tian was waiting for the Thai couple when they arrived to claim the bag.
Tian received an undisclosed cash reward from the couple and the company also plans to give him an award for good service. (ANI)
