London, Nov. 21 (ANI): The last typewriter to be made in Britain left the factory recently and was handed over to the Science museum by its UK boss.
Brother has built 5.9 million typewriters since it opened its factory in Wrexham, North Wales, in 1985, the Daily Express reported.
The firm, which will carry on making the machines in the Far East, said production is no longer viable in Britain.
The decision has ended the 130-year history of typewriter manufacture in UK, the paper said.
The last typewriter model was handed over to Rachel Boon of the Science Museum by Brother's UK boss Phil Jones and factory director Craig McCubbin, the publication added.
"Because of the typewriter's importance in the history of business communication, we felt this was a fitting tribute," Jones said. (ANI)
