Tourists throng Fathepur Sikri during World Heritage Week

Fatehpur Sikri, Nov.20 (ANI): The World Heritage Week is being observed in Fatehpur Sikri, Uttar Pradesh, and is attracting both domestic and foreign tourists.

The World Heritage Week began on November 19 and concludes on November 25.

The authorities felt that through the restoration of our heritage monuments we can preserve our traditions and culture.

Greek tourist Riya said: "I was also surprised that it is free of charge today. It is a very good occasion for all the tourists to see these historical monuments, historical sites. I think Indian people all over the world should do their best to preserve the sites here because the next generation would like to take a part to the history. It is very important and I hope that Indian people to do their best. Taj Mahal is very well known. All people dream to visit Taj Mahal one day and I am really honoured to be here."

Inspector-General of Police Bhavesh Kumar Singh said: "On this occasion we would like to tell people to remember the heritage and cultural sites and connect to it and also help to preserve it. The people should also try to behave properly with the tourists who come to visit from across the world so that we earn their respect for India and more and more tourists visit our country."

Some of the attractive buildings in this city include Buland Darwaza, Jama Masjid, the Sufi shrine of Khwaja Saleem Chishti, Diwan-i-Am or Hall of Public Audience, Diwan-i-Khas, or Hall of Private Audience, Ibadat Khana: (House of Worship), Anup Talao (a ornamental pool) and Panch Mahal, a five-storied palatial structure.

A photo exhibition of the monuments was organised and various competitions for children will also take place as part of the heritage week celebrations. (ANI)
