The Congress leader and parliamentary secretary of chief minister Sheila Dikshit, Mukesh Sharma visited several Chhath Ghats and took part in the worshipping of setting Sun. He performed argya on the Ghats with the devotees and addressed the devotees on several ghats.
It is noted that the much-awaited Chhath puja celebrated in the entire country and also in the capital with great enthusiasm. The main part of the Chhath puja which witnesses as the argya of the lord Sun finished in the several ghats made in Delhi where devotees worshipped the setting Sun in the nearest river or ponds in their locality.
In the many part of capital, the main part of the Chhath Puja celebrated as the offering - argya to the setting sun. In the evening, the devotees stand waist-deep in water, offered prayers to the Sun god on the banks of rivers or other water bodies.
In Delhi, which is, the capital of India also witnessed a vast celebration for the Chhath puja, which was widely supported by the Delhi government and MCD.
It was widely celebrated on the bank of Yamuna and several ponds, which was maintained and arranged by various agencies for the worshippers.
Chhath is so important for the people who celebrate it that they do not wear new clothes on the eve of Deepawali but they buy for Chhath. Chhath puja is very important for them as to Deepawali however the celebration of Chhath starts after the passing of Deepawali.
Nahai-Khai is the first phase of the four days long Chhath Puja celebration which means that the purity of body and heart with the Nahai- Khai.
After the Nahai- Khai, it comes the Kharna, which is the second important part of the Chhath puja.
Generally it use to celebrated in the next night of the Nahai Khai and on the day the women who perform Chhath Puja, fast the whole day and abstained from drinking water.
