As per the speculations India made its first victory against England on Monday in the four test match series at the Sardar Patel Stadium at Motera
Though after a poor finish in the first innings (191/10), England made a good come back in the second inning with a respectful score of 406 for 10 wickets in follow on but could not save them from defeat.
Captain Alastair Cook's spectacular knock of 176 and his 157 run sixth wicket partnership with wicket keeper Matt Prior (91) created some hope for England in the second innings but their effort went in vain as their last five wickets could add only 66 runs in the fifth day.
India needed only 77 runs to win the match that was easily achieved by Indian batsmanin 15.3 overs with nine wickets remaining in hand. India only lost the wicket of Virender Sehwag (25) while Cheteshwar Pujara (41 not out) and Virat Kohli (14) led India to victory.
Man of the match was awarded to Cheteshwar Pujara who opened in place of Gautam Gambhir who had to return to Delhi following his grandmother's death.
From Indian bowlers the maximum damage was done to England by spinners Pragyan Ojha and Ravichandran Ashwin while Yadav (3/70) and Zaheer Khan (2/59) complimented the spinners well by making the ball reverse in dry conditions.
