New York, Nov. 17 (ANI): Former WNBA star Chamique Holdsclaw was arrested on Thursday, for smashing the windows of her ex-girlfriend's car with a baseball bat, and then firing a shot into her vehicle.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Atlanta police said that the attack happened on Tuesday, after the 35-year-old Olympic gold medallist followed her former teammate Jennifer Lacy from a parking lot to a friend's house, the New York Daily News reported.
When Lacy parked her Range Rover, Holdsclaw got out of her car with a baseball bat and smashed the driver's side and rear passenger windows. She then pulled out a 9-mm pistol and fired a shot into the car before fleeing, cops said.
Cops suspect that Holdscaw may have poured gasoline in the car beforehand and was trying to cause an explosion when she fired the shot, local television station WSBTV said.
Lacy told police that she had smelled gas in the car. She wasn't injured.
Holdsclaw turned herself to police on Thursday. She was charged with aggravated assault, damage to property, reckless conduct and was held on 10,000-dollar-bond.
Holdsclaw seemed to refer to the attack in a tweet posted on Tuesday.
"Everything is a lesson learned. We all make decisions good and bad. As long as we grow from them that's all that matters. #lessonlearned," the message read. (ANI)
