New Delhi, Nov 16 (ANI): Leaders of the Shiva Sena on Friday claimed that party's supremo Bal Thackeray is responding well to treatment at his 'Matoshri' residence in suburban Bandra here.
Shiv Sena lawmaker Anil Desai confirmed that his condition is improving.
"The doctors are taking care of him and he is responding to the treatment," said Desai.
Senior party leader Manohar Joshi earlier in the day said they were praying for his speedy recovery.
"Everyone is praying for him in Mumbai and entire Maharashtra hopes that he will soon get back to work and this is what we are praying for," said Joshi.
His son and Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray said late on Thursday night that Balasaheb's condition was 'stable'.
"Our feelings and wishes for him are the same. His condition has been stable since Wednesday. His treatment is underway. I repeat what I said on Wednesday that we will not give up. The power of our prayers will help him recover. Let's continue praying for him. I have full faith that he will recover," he added.
Earlier on Thursday, the who's who of Mumbai queued up to call on Sena chief at the latter's residence. Among the visitors were Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan, Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, Union minister Sharad Pawar and BJP President Nitin Gadkari.
Also marking their presence were industrialists Rahul Bajaj and Venugopal Dhoot.
Glamour world personalities like Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek, Rishi Kapoor with brother Randhir, Salim Khan and son Salman Khan, Manoj Kumar, Madhur Bhandarkar, Bappi Lahiri, Sanjay Dutt with Manyata and others visited Matoshree to enquire about Thackeray's health.
The health condition of Bal Thackeray, 86, turned very critical on Wednesday night and he was put on life-support system. A team of doctors stationed inside 'Matoshree' with nursing staff has been taking care of the Sena patriarch, who is having breathing problems. (ANI)
