New Delhi, Nov 16 (IANS) Air India Friday revised its domestic group booking procedures to boost passenger traffic in the festive and new year season.
"The new policy would be applicable from Dec 1, 2012. Tour operator, travel agent and individuals will have to send written requests to regional station manager's office for group bookings," a senior Air India official told IANS.
According to the official, while a minimum group booking size has been pegged at 10 passengers, there is no maximum limit size for the group bookings.
Meanwhile, the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO), who are likely to benefit most out of the new policy revision, welcomed the move.
"We had several meetings with the civil aviation minister to discuss our pending issues with Air India on group bookings, deposit of advance payment, air?connectivity at various sector," said AITO president Subhash Goyal after meeting Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh here.
"We feel happy that all our suggestions got positive consideration. We have also given a commitment that we will give Air India first preference in all our bookings," Goyal said.
Goyal added that during their meeting, Ajit Singh emphasised the need for further interaction with the industry and Air India customers to pinpoint the areas in the national carrier's services that need improvement.
