Warship models, missiles fascinate visitors at Visakhapatnam Navy Fair

Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Nov.16 (ANI): Visitors are attending a Navy Fair in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, this week, which had submarine models, missiles and other machinery on display to exhibit military prowess of the force.

The 30 stalls at the fair showcased the saga of the Indian Navy.

Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Naval Command Vice-Admiral Anil Chopra inaugurated the Navy Mela, visited the stalls and praised craftsmen who made the model ships and other miniatures.

The venue also had a stall, which depicted the journey of the commissioning of submarines from the year 1970 to 1980 with the help of photographs.

An old depth indicator of INS Chakra, INS Dega, submarine suit to rescue a person during contingencies, nuclear submarine model, aerial drop torpedo to blast the submarine, different models of missiles, machine gun that fires 1,000 times per minute were the attractions at the fair.

Apart from the machinery, the stalls sold items ranging from bags to accessories as well as upholstery.

An exhibitor, Vikram, said that demonstrations for several projects were organized at the fair, so that the visitors could witness the functioning of machinery during wartime.

"Only in India, it will take a rescue operation against militants and pirates to control the particular issue. We demonstrate the same project in our Navy Mela."

Visitors got an opportunity to visit the naval base of the Eastern Naval Command and the docks to see vignettes of the life of sea warriors on the shores as well as on the high seas.

Navy Day is celebrated on December 4. (ANI)
