Himachal woollens sell briskly at Delhi trade fair

New Delhi, Nov 15 (IANS) Products of Himachal Pradesh, especially woollens and handicrafts, are quite popular in the India International Trade Fair-2012, pavilion director R.R. Patyal said here Thursday.

Besides 15 government departments, more than 50 industrial units from the state have displayed their products in the fair.

Patyal said hand-knitted Kullu and Kinnauri shawls, Chamba 'rumal' (handkerchief), Chamba school of miniature paintings, besides hand-knitted woollens like shawls, stoles, mufflers, socks, gloves, pullovers, caps and carpets, metal artefacts and leather products are great attractions among the Indian and foreign visitors.

The Kullu and Kinnauri shawls, with intricate borders in bright colours, are made on traditional looms by locals and are sold all over India and abroad.

The demand for paintings from Kangra is also quite high, he said.
