New Delhi, Nov 14 (IANS) To avenge a perceived insult, a 25-year-old youth along with his two friends shot dead an auto driver a few days ago, but were arrested, police said Wednesday.
Manish alias Nata was arrested Tuesday night for his involvement in south Delhi's Sangam Vihar murder case.
Manish along with his two friends -- including Sunny, the mastermind of the murder -- came on a bike and opened fire at Gyan Singh, in his 30s, on the night of Nov 9 in Sangam Vihar.
"The accused fled from the spot after committing the crime. Gyan Singh was taken to Batra hospital where he was declared dead," said a police officer.
"Manish told investigators that a few days ago Gyan Singh had beaten him and his friend Sunny and demanded Rs.25,000 as extortion money to work in the area. The accused met with Sunny and carried out their plan," said the officer.
Manish escaped to Moradabad after committing the crime. When his money was all spent, he returned to Delhi where he was nabbed by the police.
The accused is a school dropout and works as a property dealer in Sangam Vihar. He was previously involved in some other criminal cases, added the officer.
