Jaipur, Nov. 8 (ANI): Italian troopers showcased their talent with an aim to reintroduce the medieval art of waving flags of Europe in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

Colourful performance by the young troopers of the group named 'Storici Sbandieratori delle Cointrade dei Cori, enthralled the visitors including dignitaries from the India as well as foreign nations.

In an hour-long presentation, Italian dancers entertained the audiences by waving, swirling and tossing the flags of several countries including Indian national flag, as a part of their special act.

Speaking to reporters, Loui Che Telera, the troop master said that they were thrilled to visit India, which itself has a rich culture and were happy to receive a warm response from the locals for their performances.

Telera said their act was a form of traditional dance from the Renaissance era.

"This is a traditional Renascimento dance and we take part from Renaissance and each part of our city. Exchange presents in a party, in a festival in the city and religious party (religious festival). And we make some jives with flex and instruments and our orchestra represent the four different parts of the city and four different colours for four different flags," said Telera.

Among the socialites, Princess of Jaipur, Diya Kumari graced the event, which was organised in the City Palace, a masterpiece of architecture.

Jyoti Khandelwal, Mayor-Jaipur city said that she was delighted to experience the unique performance, which was organised for the first time in India.

She added that more of such events should be organised as it promotes harmony between people across the globe and bridges the gap between countries with different cultures and traditions.

"We have seen some very brilliant performances by Italian artistes with the flags and such type of cultural exchange between nations brings an opportunity for the people to know about the art and culture of other countries. They will surely take along with them the cultural heritage of our city Jaipur, Rajasthan and will imbibe them in their culture. It will not boost tourism but also promotes peace and harmony and strong bond of friendship among the people of different countries," said Khandelwal.

The traditional dance was the blend of Italian and Indian culture as troopers performed with the flags of several provinces of Italy set in the backdrop of traditional Rajasthani set up.

The group of flag wavers hails from a small town Cori in Italy, which was formed back in 1976 with the mission to reintroduce the medieval art of waving flags of Europe.

The Renaissance Era encompasses Western music history from 1400 to the beginning of the 1600's. The period marked the rebirth of humanism, and the revival of cultural achievements. It began in Italy in the Late Middle Ages and later spread to the rest of Europe. (ANI)
