New Delhi, Nov.6 (ANI): The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said on Tuesday that it is mulling over naming the upcoming home Test match series against England after late legendary captain and batsman Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, said Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla.
Shukla, who is also vice president of the Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI), said the matter was under consideration.
"I think the mater is in domain of the BCCI president and the BCCI working committee. They will have to look at several aspects before arriving out at any decision. I think matter is under consideration," Shukla told reporters in New Delhi.
Pataudi's wife Sharmila Tagore and his son Saif Ali Khan had requested for it.
In a separate development, Shukla criticised senior BJP leader Ram Jethmalani for describing Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi an illiterate person.
"He should stay away from these kind of observation. He is too old, too senior to make such an observation about Raul Gandhi," added Shukla.
Earlier, Rahul said the Congress had backed National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government-headed by the Bharatiya Janata Party during the war in Kargil sector. Now, the NDA was not backing foreign direct investment (FDI) in retail.
Shukla also took a dig at the BJP leaders after some of them demanded that BJP chief Nitin Gadkari should quit due to allegations.
"They are fighting amongst themselves to this extent. By mistake even if they get power they can't run the country. They will keep on fighting amongst themselves and there will be complete chaos," added Shukla.
Media reported that Gadkari's Purti Power and Sugar Limited was funded by dubious means, 18 out of 21 investors firms in his company bought equity more than their capital, four directors were common in these 18 companies and one of them was his driver.
An infrastructure company called Ideal Road Builders (IRB) allegedly gave loan of rupees 1.65 billions to Purti Limited in 2001 -- two years after IRB was awarded road contracts by Gadkari during his tenure as Minister of Public Works Department in western state of Maharashtra.
On his part, Gadkari had denied these allegations and offered himself for a probe.
A lawmaker of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), Brinda Karat, said Congress and BJP leaders were two sides of the same fake coin.
"It is now evident that leaders of the Congress and the BJP are two sides of the same fake coin," said Karat in Ranchi city of eastern Jharkhand state.
Earlier, India Against Corruption activist Arvind Kejriwal had alleged improper dealings between Robert Vadra, the son-in-law of Sonia Gandhi, and property developer DLF Limited.
The claims were detailed in a document posted on the group's web site.
The Congress party admitted of having advanced unsecured and interest free 90 crore (rupees 900 million) loan to the Associated Journals Private Limited that published the National Herald and another newspapers titled Quami Awaz in Urdu language. (ANI)
