Mumbai, Nov 6 (IANS) Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra) Tuesday declared a 6 percent jump in profits for the quarter ending Sep 30 to Rs.382 crore ($72 million), from Rs.362 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous year.
The company announced a timely execution of projects.
RInfra's Delhi-Agra toll road became operational during the quarter along with the commissioning of extra voltage sub-station in Mumbai.
Simultaneously, the company's power distribution segment added 17,800 customers in Mumbai and 47,400 customers in Delhi. It became the largest private sector distributor of power to over six million customers.
The company had a total customer base of 2.9 million in Mumbai, including 17,800 customers added in the September quarter. It had a total customer base of 3.1 million in Delhi, including 47,400 customers added during the last quarter.
A tariff hike was also implemented in Delhi during the quarter.
Operating income from operations declined to Rs.5,515 crore from Rs.5,729 crore, year-on-year. On consolidated basis, the net worth of the Company stood at Rs.25,133 crore ($4.8 billion). The company said it was the largest private sector player in the power transmission sector with total project outlay of Rs.6,600 crore.
RInfra generated 1,296 million units of power in the quarter ending Sep 2012.
The company's Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) business generated revenue of Rs.1,803 crore in the September quarter. EPC order book stood at Rs.13,910 crore as on Sep 30.
In road development space, the company said it was developing 11 road projects of approximately 1,000 km worth nearly Rs.12,000 crore. Revenue in this segment increased 44 percent to Rs.111 crore during June-Sep 2012 over the corresponding period last year.
