New Delhi, Nov. 5 (ANI): Model and actress Preeti Jain, who had accused film director Madhur Bhandarkar of raping her on the pretext of giving her a lead role in one of his forthcoming films, on Monday welcomed the Supreme Court's judgement to quash the rape charges against the filmmaker.
Jain said that she and Bhandarkar have now varied all the differences between them, and added that the two now want to move ahead in life.
"I welcome the judgement of the Supreme Court because Madhur Bhandarkar and I have varied our differences for ever. And we both want to move on in life. So, I wish him all the best and I think it is a progressive step it was going on for more than eight years. Now, we can both do something different rather than fighting against each other," she said.
The apex court earlier today quashed rape charges against Bhandarkar, who had approached it saying that the proper procedure was not followed while investigating the case and only the statements of the victim were taken in the court.
Jain had earlier in July 2004 lodged a complaint alleging that Bhandarkar had raped her several times between 1999 and 2004 under the pretext of marrying her and casting her as actress in his movies. (ANI)
