Becks' speedboat from London Olympics set to go under the hammer

London, Sun, 04 Nov 2012 ANI

London, Nov. 4 (ANI): The speedboat that David Beckham piloted down the Thames River during the London 2012 opening ceremony is set to fetch 250,000 pounds at an auction next month.

The 2008 Bladerunner that carried the Olympic flame to the stadium is being sold by auctioneers Bonhams at Mercedes-Benz World at Brooklands in Surrey on December 3, the Daily star reported.

An estimated 900 million people had seen the 37-year-old footie ace pilot the boat - fitted with dummy rockets, smoke canisters and dozens of LED lights.

The speedboat played a crucial role in the spectacular opening ceremony, with its progress down the river synchronised with huge firework displays. (ANI)
