London, November 4 (ANI): Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas dressed to impress in a black and gold Notte by Marchessa mini with a gold medal and her signature smile completing her flawless look as she graced the cover of Essence Magazine's annual "Women of the Year" issue.
According to the Huffington Post, the 16-year-old talks about her life after putting forth an impressive show at the Summer Olympics earlier this year in the cover story titled 'Gabby Takes Flight'.
The teen has become a household name after making history at the Olympics by becoming the first African-American gymnast to win the individual all-around gold medal and helping her team mount the top of the podium.
In the months since her triumph, Douglas got a chance to befriend Michelle Obama, booked a beauty campaign with OPI Products Inc and even guest-starred on the show 'The Vampire Diaries'.
However, it emerges from the story that despite her new found celebrity status the teenage star is not letting her fame go to her head.
"In my dreams I didn't think about how many shows I would be on and how many people would tweet me...it's so cool," the Daily Mail quoted her as telling Essence. (ANI)
