"The main motive of Sonzal is to bring different colleges and different departments affiliated to the University of Kashmir together under one roof to help students unleash their hidden talent. Some students participate in debates, others in elocution, some in quizzes, in fine arts like collage or music. Their participation in such activities is essential, so that in the future when there national or zonal level competitions, they can participate in those and make their state proud of them," he said.

The festival had a wide array of activities like quiz contests, debates, painting competitions and singing, among others.
The event serves as a learning ground for students, enabling to exchange ideas and equip themselves with new techniques.
A participant, Bushra Mir, said that such events boosted their confidence and instilled a competitive spirit in them to perform better on a bigger platform.
"Such festivals are important, because they boost our confidence to come forward and show our talent. So, through these events, we can participate in zonal or nationals in the future. Last year, we had participated at the zonal level. Whenever we compete with students from other colleges, we also get to know where we stand," she said.
