Campaign to spread awareness about disabled

New Delhi, Nov 3 (IANS) A nation-wide campaign to spread awareness and sensitise people about the rights of people with disability was launched here Saturday.

National Trust, an NGO working for the disabled people, launched the campaign 'Badhte Kadam' with the flagging off ceremony by Delhi Education Minister Kiran Walia.

"The one-month long programme is held to generate awareness and sensitisation among citizens about the rights of people with disability," said Walia.

The NGO has tied up with other organisation working in the area to sensitise people across the country.

"Earlier the campaign was running in Delhi but this year we have decided to cover five cities across the nation," said Madhu Grover from the Action for Ability Development and Inclusion (AADI).

The campaigning will be held at Shimla in north, Trivandrum in south, Aizawl in east, Jodhpur in west and Nagpur in the central region of the country.
