Defiant Kejriwal challenges Khurshid, says 'not scared of anybody's threat'(Update:Kejriwal)

Farrukhabad, Nov. 1 (ANI): Activist-turned politician Arvind Kejriwal, who is presently in Farrukhabad, the constituency of External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, challenged the latter to do all that he could do to stop him from campaigning against his corrupt activities on his home turf.

Kejriwal, who is highlighting corruption charges against Khurshid and his wife during his rally here, said the India Against Corruption (IAC) activists are not scared of anybody's threat.

"Salman Khurshid challenged us to reach Farrukhabad, we are here. Who is Khurshid trying to threaten? We are not afraid of anybody's threat. Want to tell him that we are here and will go back tonight in a train - only a few hours left - do what you want. Those who showed black flags should come and debate with us. Khurshid's threat has not kept me away from Farrukhabad," said Kejriwal.

"Did he think we would get scared? We live on the edge. No one cares about his or her life. There was trouble before I reached here. The people who were showing us black flags should come to the stage and talk to the disabled people who are the victims here. Everyone is from India, no one is from any camp. If anyone wants, they can come to the stage," he added.

Kejriwal said Khurshid couldn't win the polls with the help of people who showed black flags to the IAC activists.

"Khurshid's irregularities have been public domain for the last three years. Reports say both Khurshid and his wife have committed fraud," he said.

Asserting that he wanted to change the political system, Kejriwal said 'no more VIPs, the common man will be the only VIP'.

Despite elaborate security arrangements, Kejriwal's supporters clashed with the Congressmen in Farrukhabad this afternoon.

Protesters wearing caps with the legend 'Main hoon Salman Khurshid' (I am Salman Khurshid) and waving black flags blocked the road. The police later intervened and allowed Kejriwal to continue his journey.

Moreover, Congress workers smashed the windows of a car as it headed towards the rally ground.

Khurshid has already warned Kejriwal against setting foot in the area, but the India Against Corruption activist is unfazed.

A few weeks ago, a Hindi TV channel ran a detailed report on how an NGO headed by Khurshid and run by his wife Louise has allegedly been embezzling lakhs of funds meant for the differently-abled.

Khurshid and his wife had come under huge criticism after a sting operation done by news channel Aaj Tak reported that the Union Social Welfare and Empowerment Ministry had granted Rs 71.50 lakh to the Khurshids' NGO for distributing tricycles and hearing aids to the disabled in 17 districts of Uttar Pradesh.
