Month long inter-Institutional Sports Meet "Sangathan 2012" concludes at Amity

NOIDA (Uttar Pradesh), Oct. 30 (ANI): In order to promote the sports culture in the Country, Founder's day at Amity is celebrated in the form of a month long Mega Inter-Institutional Sports Meet "Sangathan" every year

Sangathan 2012, which started on September 21, 2012, concluded with the felicitation of winners of various sports events during a glittering ceremony marked with much fanfare and motley celebrations at Amity Campus, Sector-125, Noida

This year more than 20,000 students of higher education institutions from all Amity Campuses located across India and abroad including China, Romania, California, London and New York zealously participated in over 75 Sports events including Hockey, Cricket, football, Tennis, Swimming, Squash among others

Thousands of students, faculty members, Institutional Heads and Senior Officials of Amity thronged the Sports Grounds during the warm sunny afternoon to witness the grand ceremony and celebrate the birthday of the revered Founder President, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan. The colorful flags mounted on the boundary walls of the campus sashayed with the whiffs of air. The unfurling of "Sangathan Flag" marked the beginning of the glittering ceremony

The sports captains of various teams lit the "Khel Jyoti" which stands for true sportsmanship and camaraderie

Speaking during the occasion and presenting the summary of "Sangathan 2012", Prof. Kalpana Sharma, Chairperson, Organising Committee, Sangathan - 2012 shared that 14th Sangathan witnessed the humungous participation by students and faculty members who zealously participated in over 1, 000 matches conducted during the month long "Sangathan". Prof. Sharma expressed that in order to maximize the participation of students and faculty members, vintage games were also included in "Sangathan 2012", which were very much liked by the participants. Prof. Sharma stressed that "Sangathan" is not just a competition but a "School" in itself which aims at bringing out the innate talent of the participants and grooming them on all fronts

Releasing the newsletter of Sangathan - 2012, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, a philanthropist and an educationist who has a passion to transform the country into a "Knowledge Superpower", expressed his happiness over the sportsmanship displayed by the students during SANGATHAN. He expressed with conviction that the students of Amity with their rich values, sanskaars and knowledge, have the capability and capacity to change India and the entire world. India will soon become a "Super power" and Amitians would have a major contribution in that. He called upon the students to aim and dream high in their lives and commit themselves to their aims and dreams, without being bogged down by numerous setbacks which ought to deter human beings from achieving success. Dr. Chauhan declared that Amity would roll out 51 new International campuses across the world in next five years

The tiny tots of various branches of "Amiown" located across the Delhi/NCR, donned multi-hued dresses and danced on the songs , displaying a picture perfect.

The marching contingents from all the Institutions and Campuses of Amity including Amity International Schools spread across Delhi/NCR regaled one and all present during the occasion, who applauded the discipline and ardor of the students. The marching contingent from Amity Institute of Education, Noida was declared the Best Marching Contingent which was followed by Amity Institute of Education, Delhi in the Senior Category and in the Junior Category, the marching contingent from Amity International School, Noida was declared the best which was followed by Amity International School, Pushp Vihar

The Girls' team from Amity Law School, Noida and Amity International Business School and Boys' team from Amity International Business School (AIBS) and Amity Law School, Noida gave tough competition to each other during the finals of TUG of WAR. The Girls' and Boys' team from Amity Law School, Noida defeated their respective counterparts and emerged as winners in a spectacular show of grit and determination.

The month long labor, hard work and practice of the participants were finally fructified when they were felicitated with gold and silver medals and trophies. Their faces beamed with bright smiles and hearts soared high in the air.

The Champion's Trophy of "Sangathan" was jointly lifted by the combined team of Amity School of Engineering and Technology (ASET) and Amity School of Engineering, which bagged 23 Gold medals, 12 Silver medals and 9 Bronze medals.

The team of Amity Law School, Noida was declared First Runners Up with 6 Gold medals, 12 Silver medals and 17 Bronze medals.

The combined team of Amity Business School, Amity School of Rural Management and Amity Institute of NGO Management emerged as Second Runners up with 4 Gold medals, 10 Silver medals and 7 Bronze medals

The celebrations were a true depiction of team spirit, camaraderie, sportsmanship and harmony in unison. Students from primary, secondary and the higher education of Amity presented a wonderful ensemble of cultural dances and Horse Riding Show.
