Imphal, Oct. 29 (ANI): Security forces have stepped vigil across the state of Manipur to curb the spread of militant activity.

Recently, Bishnupur Police presented a KYKL cadre Wahengbam Markanto, who was arrested by them.

Markanto was once an employee of the state archive department.

The police also displayed a huge cache of arms which they recovered from the four apprehended cadres of Kangleipak Communist Party City Meitei Group.

The arms were recovered on October 17, when police in a joint operation with paramilitary forces nabbed the KCP cadres from the Loktak Lift Irrigation area.

"District police along with Assam Rifles and the army deployed in the district have been working very hard to prevent any kind of activities carried out by the different underground groups particularly the CORCOM. And we have been able to prevent any sort of illegal activities or explosion by these groups," said Radhosyam Thockchom, Superintendent of Police, Bishnupur District.

At another recently held press conference, Imphal Police showcased 105gm of heroine seized during an operation conducted on October 18.

Acting on a tip-off, police apprehended a woman identified as A S Abem Begum, who was carrying drugs concealed in 11 detergent packets from Morheh to Imphal.

"We got a specific information about a woman trafficking heroine powder moving from Moreh to Imphal in a white Maruti Van with the registration No AS -23-E- 9251.

Acting on the information, the Imphal West Police Narcotic Cell intercepted the van and apprehended the woman," said Ranjit Singh, an officer, Imphal West Police Narcotics Cell.

The security forces and the government are doing their best to curb militancy and bring back peace and normalcy to the state.

The government is also trying to persuade the militants to give up violence so that the state can witness progress and growth. (ANI)
