Yoga Guru Ramdev takes a jibe at Congress over scam charges

New Delhi, Sat, 27 Oct 2012 ANI

New Delhi, Oct. 27 (ANI): Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev has once again targeted the congress party, which has been hit by a slew of corruption scandals ahead of the upcoming polls in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.

Tapping into spiraling voter anger at corruption, the guru has called on the government to pursue billions of dollars in illegal funds abroad and the withdrawal of high denomination bank notes.

Ramdev lashed out at the Congress for adopting a contradictory approach and blamed them for looting the wealth of the nation.

"We will tell the people of the country that we do not have to make the party (Congress) win who has looted the country. The image of other parties has also been scarred but they are ready to improve their position and are making efforts towards it. They (Congress) are afraid of it. They have adopted a contradictory approach. On one hand they are looting and on the other they will try to suppress anyone who tries to raise his voice against them," said Ramdev.

Ramdev will address public rallies at more than 15 places at various districts in Gujarat and will began his fourth Bharat Swabhiman Yatra (India Pride Journey) from Bhavnagar in Gujarat from October 30.

Commenting over the graft allegations leveled on BJP President Nitin Gadkari, Ramdev said that the technical mistakes are coming to the fore in his case.

"This is the internal matter of their party (BJP). There are two kinds of mistakes. One is technical problem of any institution and the technical mistakes are coming to the fore in case of Nitin Gadkari. The policies of the Congress are such that they have looted the entire nation. There is vast difference between the two. One of them is related to policies and the other is technical mistake which should be worked upon," he added.

In June 2011, yoga guru Swami Ramdev and thousands of his followers staged a mass hunger strike in New Delhi to demand reforms, including the death penalty for corrupt officials. Dozens were injured when the government sent a phalanx of police in with batons and tear gas to break up their peaceful protest. (ANI)
